But after a recent screening of the upcoming movie “Soul Surfer,” Underwood found she wasn’t as bad as she thought she’d be.

“I really liked how everything turned out, including myself,” Underwood said in an interview Tuesday. “I was really expecting the worst from myself, and I really surprised myself.” The Grammy-winning country superstar plays a youth counselor in the film, which is based on the story of Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack.

“It’s definitely an uplifting movie,” said Underwood. “Everybody would definitely feel a lot better coming out than they did coming in.”

Although she gives herself good marks for her work on the film, Underwood said she’s not ready to carry a movie just yet. “There are people that are absolutely amazing actors and actresses, and I am not one of those, though who’s to say one day; you never know, maybe I will be,” she said. “But I’m definitely new at this and just doing what’s fun right now, and I love my music; that’s my first love.”

The second stage of her “Play On” tour starts Sept. 25 in Portland, Ore., sponsored by Olay; she became the company’s first North American spokeswoman Wednesday.

It will be Underwood’s first tour since her summer wedding to professional hockey player Mike Fisher.

“It’s kind of like my season, my tour, starts the same time his season does. It will definitely be a challenge but we love each other and we love what we do, so there’s no reason we can’t have it all,” she said. “Next year will be an easier year for me. As soon as my tour is over, I’ll be hanging out with him a lot more.”

Underwood will host the Country Music Association Awards in Nashville, Tenn., on Nov. 10 with Brad Paisley. While she’s nominated for female vocalist and album of the year for “Play On,” some fans wanted her to get a nomination for entertainer of the year, the show’s highest honor.

“I’d like to see that, too,” she laughed. “I’m not going to lie.”

But the 27-year-old said she’s not upset about being excluded, and she’s happy for all her friends who were nominated.

“Every single year it’s all about celebrating a great year in country music because every single year it just gets better and better and stronger and stronger,” she said. “I’m excited about my nominations and I think it’s going to be a good night for a lot of people.”

The early nominations for the show have been announced (the rest will air Wednesday on “Good Morning America”), and it looks like 2010 could really be the year of Miranda Lambert. The Sweetwater, Texas native is already up for five awards — including Song and Video of the Year.

Last time around, it was Taylor Swift’s time in the spotlight — however, with her new single “Mine” just being released, she is so far a non-factor in any of the major categories.

The Tri-City Storm is getting some national media attention thanks to longtime fan Jennifer Kardell, who convinced country music sensation Carrie Underwood to pose for a picture while wearing a Storm jersey.

Kardell, 25, met Underwood backstage at a 2008 concert in Iowa, where the two posed for a photo wearing Storm jerseys. Kardell later submitted the photo to Country Weekly magazine, which published the shot and a short story about the meeting in the Aug. 23 edition that just hit newsstands.

 

“I’m a huge Carrie Underwood fan and even bigger Storm hockey fan, and I wanted to do something unique that combined the two,” said Kardell. “After I asked her to wear the jersey, she didn’t hesitate. She threw it right on, danced around in it a bit and had fun with the whole idea.”

 

Kardell became a Storm fan her junior year of high school, when the team relocated to Kearney from Minnesota. She has missed fewer than 10 games in those first 10 seasons. She also is involved in Kearney’s adult hockey leagues and works part time for the team on game nights.

 

Her love of Underwood is just as strong.Kardell has seen Underwood in concert 15 times and met her in person five times.

 ”Her music has gotten me through so many rough times,” Kardell told Country Weekly. “… Words can’t describe how much she means to me.”

 Kardell said her photo of Underwood has started making the rounds on social networking websites, and a handful of Storm players have even asked for copies.

 ”A few of the guys are big fans of hers, and they think it’s pretty neat she’s wearing one of their jerseys. I guess they think she looks pretty good in purple and white,” joked Kardell.

Carrie Underwood recently admitted that she is sufferring from panic attacks. Ironically, the American Idol winner triggers her panic attack syndrome when she’s in large groups or public crowds. It’s quite funny actually how it works since she’s been a hollywood commodity for years now. Recently she shared on an interview that she panicked after being trapped in an elevator.

“Every floor we stopped on, we’d cram more people in, and by the time we were done, there was just a ton of people,” Underwood said. Carrie underwood’s panic attacks stems way back from high school but it only got better now. Her recent panic attacks may have come from nowhere because she appeared to be normal even when she was still competing in American Idol.
